What types of rooms will be in the new space?
There will be:
- A large, open two-story "gathering" atrium
- A two-story, glass-enclosed indoor children's play area
- A bookstore
- A café
- An oversized multipurpose gym with six basketball goals, a large stage, and two rear projection screens
- A large "Main Street" entry corridor (connected to the "Front Door" of our facility)
- Multiple elevators
- Spacious children's class rooms
- Improved shuttle bus loading area
What is the anticipated cost for the project?
The estimated cost for this project is approximately $20,000,000.
Is our financial base stable enough to support the magnitude of the challenge?
We are in the top one percent of the 3,500 churches that have participated in a campaign of this magnitude and nature that has also achieved their goals.
How much can we expect to raise in the Capital Campaign?
We should be able to raise between $16 to $18 million dollars if we have a strong participation by our church family.
When will we break ground and when will it be occupied?
We plan to break ground in February 2007, and the project will be completed within 17 months of that date.
Will this project cause us to lose focus on people at the expense of dollars and buildings?
Over these past few years, our church has been highly focused on reaching people for Christ and that won't change going forward. In fact, this facility will help us reach out more to our family, friends, neighbors, and work associates beyond the Sugar Creek walls.
Does the project make sense?
In our Sunday morning children's classes, we are at the point of saturation. We have reached a "ceiling" that will highly impact our current growth curve if we do not provide more space for children and their parents. At this point, this project is the best use of our resources to help us continue to reach out to our community for Christ.
Why not relocate instead of build?
Sugar Creek is blessed to be located near two major highways; therefore almost 20 percent of our guests that join us each Sunday do so because they saw us as they were driving by. Therefore, we don't want to lose that impact from our current location. Our prayer is to maximize the space we have and continue reaching people in this area.
What is the potential for increased attendance at this location?
Based upon our present Worship Center's capacity and the move to four Sunday morning services, we anticipate reaching an average of 4,500 people or more as a result of this addition. More service times could be added to accommodate our growing church family.
Is the congregation being challenged?
Yes. Over then next couple of months, every member of Sugar Creek will be informed, motivated, and challenged to ask God what He would have them do to sacrifice for the advancement of His Kingdom in this project.
What about parking?
We have determined, along with our consultants, that it is possible to gain additional parking spaces on our property through some redesign. In addition, we will continue to utilize our shuttle bus to accommodate our members and guests who will park at off-site locations.
Are the Pastor and staff committed to the project and Sugar Creek's future?
Yes. Pastor Mark and the entire Sugar Creek staff are committed to this project and to our church. They have been called by God to serve Him in this place for this time and they are prepared to do whatever it takes to reach this region for Christ.
How is giving to this project different from my tithe?
My tithe is given regularly to support the day-to-day ministries of Sugar Creek. My "offering," which is over and above the tithe, is a sacrificial gift I give to help under write the cost of the building project.
How long will the commitment time last?
This will be a three-year commitment that begins in October 2006 and ends in September 2009.
